Pushkar is a Hindu pilgrimage town in Rajasthan, India. The town is home to one of the world's few Brahma temples and a holy lake that is believed to have formed when Brahma dropped a lotus flower. It is said that all devout Hindu's should visit at least once in their life. That visit usually takes place during one of the holiest months of the Hindu calendar, known as Kartika, where around 200,000 people make the journey to bathe in Pushkar's sacred waters. Running along side the holy festival of Kartika Purnima is Pushkar's camel fair, which sees traders from across the Thar desert meeting to trade their livestock. It is estimated that 50,000 camels are traded during the festival, which lasts around two to three weeks.
